Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day
In honor of their service and sacrifice, TransLink will provide free transit to veterans and active military personnel this Remembrance Day, Tuesday, November 11.
Eligible Customers
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police and fire personnel
- Canadian Coast Guard members
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- BC Ambulance Service personnel
To access free transit, eligible individuals must present their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or appear in uniform.
Transit Access Details
- Veterans and eligible customers do not need to tap their Compass Card for bus and HandyDART trips.
- Accessible fare gates at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will stay open from 8 a.m.
Additional Observances
TransLink also honors National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, recognizing Indigenous veterans’ sacrifices and contributions to global peace and security.
The Royal Canadian Legion will be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs in Metro Vancouver.
Customers are encouraged to use transit for attending Remembrance Day ceremonies throughout the region.
