Fatima Bosch, Miss Universe Mexico 2025, spoke out after experiencing what she described as disrespectful treatment by Nawat Itsaragrisil, a Thai businessman and president of Miss Universe for Asia and Oceania.
During a preliminary event in Bangkok on November 3, Itsaragrisil reportedly ordered Bosch to stand and questioned her about missing a sponsor photoshoot. The confrontation escalated, prompting several contestants to stand and walk out in solidarity with Bosch.
“Anyone who wants to continue in the competition, sit down,” Itsaragrisil said, at one point calling for security to remove Bosch.
The exchange occurred just before the contestants’ sash ceremony and was captured live, quickly spreading across social media platforms.
Bosch later addressed reporters, highlighting her commitment to fairness and respect.
“We are empowered women, and this platform is meant to give us a voice — no one can silence us,”she stated. She added that Itsaragrisil called her “stupid” and appeared upset due to his conflicts with the Miss Universe organization.
“I’m here doing everything right — I don’t bother anyone, I try to be kind, I’m doing my best — and he told me to shut up,”Bosch said.
She also expressed her respect for Thailand and urged women to reject any form of demeaning behavior.
The confrontation involving a leading pageant official and Miss Universe Mexico sparked a notable protest from contestants, highlighting tensions around respect and empowerment within the competition.
