On October 15, 2025, Mr Daniel Owen, 47 and his son Cooper, 15 were zip-lining at Green Jungle Park, an eco-adventure resort near Luang Prabang along the Mekong River. While climbing a tree with their guide, they were attacked by a swarm of Asian giant hornets, known as “murder hornets.”

Aftermath

Both victims struggled to descend but succumbed to their injuries hours after arriving at a nearby hospital. The fate of their guide remains unknown.
