Brantford Councillors Back Vital Infrastructure Project
A multi-million dollar project to install water and wastewater pipes beneath Highway 403 near the Oak Park Road interchange has been labeled "critically important" to Brantford's economic future by Mayor Kevin Davis.
The site, located just north of Highway 403 and including a former gravel pit, is one of the few areas in southern Ontario zoned for industrial development pending infrastructure upgrades, according to the mayor.
“It’s the kind of land that 20 years ago you would see an auto assembly plant on it,” said Davis during the November 4 committee-of-the-whole meeting. “It’s that large, it’s that significant to both the future of our community and southern Ontario.”
Davis emphasized the potential for considerable industrial growth in southern Ontario once trade relations with the United States stabilize.
“We’d be a prime candidate for that investment,” Davis added.
This project is set to unlock key industrial opportunities by providing essential infrastructure.
