San Antonio — Spurs forward Julian Champagnie swapped his jersey for a Scooby-Doo costume this Halloween and made a surprise visit to Methodist Children’s Hospital.
Joined by the Spurs' mascot Coyote, Champagnie handed out candy, posed for photos, and interacted with young patients, brightening the hospital’s festive celebrations.
Every Halloween, Methodist Children’s Hospital decorates elaborately with unique themes, and staff dress up in costumes. The hospital organizes reverse trick-or-treating, where leadership visits patients room-to-room to distribute treats.
This year’s event included the presence of the Emergency Services Facility Dogs—Lady, Fresca, and Chanel—dressed as a surgeon, witch, and spider, adding to the fun atmosphere.
"I didn’t make a wish, but it felt like one. It was inspirational to see the actual walking dream. I didn’t think I was this special, but he made me feel like I was." — Jamal Magee, patient
"I appreciate the hospital for giving me this opportunity. For him to stop by and show some love meant so much to me. It’s hard to describe."
Champagnie's visit left a memorable impact, spreading joy and inspiration to the young patients on this special day.
