Channel 9’s chief footy reporter, Tom Morris, has made a surprising move by joining competitor Channel 7. The 34-year-old announced on Friday morning that he accepted a lucrative offer from Channel 7, according to Code Sports.
Seven’s head of sport, Chris Jones, and SEN boss Craig Hutchison played significant roles in recruiting Morris. His addition strengthens Channel 7’s already impressive line-up of footy experts.
While Morris is not expected to take on a leading on-air position, he will join Mitch Cleary, Channel 7’s chief footy reporter, and Xander McGuire, recently also recruited from Nine, forming a strong trio.
Morris joined Channel 9 in January 2024 but was persuaded to switch due to Channel 7’s broad sports broadcasting rights.
