Ethan Hawke fondly recalls his recent work with Taylor Swift, describing the experience as “incredible.” The actor shared his thoughts during his first visit to Miami on November 2, where he received the Miami Film Festival’s Variety Virtuoso Award.
In a conversation with Variety co–editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh, Hawke reflected on his career, mentioning collaborations with Hollywood legends such as Robert De Niro, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ben Stiller, and Julia Stiles.
Hawke was particularly excited about reuniting with his “Dead Poet’s Society” co-star Josh Charles to feature in Taylor Swift’s music video for “Fortnight,” which also includes Post Malone. The project was written and directed by Swift herself and came about thanks to Hawke’s daughter, Maya.
“My daughter is creating opportunities in my life. I get a text from my daughter saying ‘Hey dad, Taylor Swift wants your number.’ So I guess they met. And anyway, Taylor Swift is a ‘Dead Poet’s Society’ fan, and so, hell, I’ll take what I can get,” Hawke recalled with humor.
He expressed admiration for Swift’s creativity and determination:
“That woman is incredible. She’s a force of nature.”
This appreciation coincided with Swift’s recent success, including a new version of her No. 1 hit from The Life of a Showgirl.
Ethan Hawke praises Taylor Swift’s visionary talent and credits his daughter Maya for connecting him to the acclaimed singer on a memorable music video project.
