Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo will co-host the musical special Wicked: One Wonderful Night, giving fans a chance to revisit the magical world of Oz. This event premieres on Thursday night and celebrates the beloved Broadway musical Wicked.
The two-hour special will showcase memorable songs such as “Defying Gravity” and “Popular,” along with sneak previews of “For Good” and “The Girl in the Bubble.” It promises a mix of Emerald City surprises, comedic sketches, and production numbers.
The special will air on NBC on Thursday, November (exact time not specified) and will be available to stream live on DirecTV. It will also be accessible on Peacock starting in November.
“I am absolutely delighted to let you in on a centerpiece of our campaign for the second film, and it’s something that’s never been done in the 22-year history of ‘Wicked,’” said Chu during NBCUniversal’s upfront presentation.
Chu introduced the special in May at Radio City Music Hall, highlighting that this marks the first time songs from Wicked are featured in this format on broadcast TV.
