A new country will officially join the normalization deals with Israel known as the Abraham Accords, according to a US special envoy. Steve Witkoff, US President Donald Trump’s special envoy to the Middle East, revealed the update on Thursday.
Speaking at a business forum in Miami, Florida, Witkoff did not disclose the name of the country but confirmed the announcement would happen Thursday evening at an event in Washington.
“I’m flying back to Washington tonight because we’re going to announce tonight, another country coming into the Abraham Accords,” Witkoff said.
President Trump is scheduled to host leaders from five Central Asian countries — Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan — at the White House on Thursday evening. It remains uncertain if the announcement will be made during this meeting, but the president is expected to attend any significant declaration.
The Abraham Accords are agreements signed between Israel and several Muslim-majority countries during President Trump’s first term to normalize diplomatic relations.
