The White House is expected to reveal on Thursday that another nation will establish formal diplomatic relations with Israel under the Abraham Accords, according to Steve Witkoff, U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy.
Speaking at the America Business Forum in Miami, Witkoff stated:
“I'm flying back to Washington tonight because we're going to announce, tonight, another country coming into the Abraham Accords.”
During President Trump's first term, the Abraham Accords led to normalization agreements between Israel and several Arab countries in 2020. These agreements marked a significant shift in Middle Eastern diplomacy.
The accords have contributed to the increasing isolation and weakening of the Palestinians. They have eroded the traditional Arab consensus that recognition of Israel should only occur in exchange for peace concessions.
Palestinians, enduring Israeli occupation for years, view these developments as a betrayal by Arab nations previously committed to supporting Palestinian independence and advocating for Israeli withdrawal from territories occupied since 1948.
The upcoming announcement highlights the Abraham Accords' ongoing role in reshaping regional alliances while intensifying challenges for Palestinian aspirations.
