At this year’s Miami Film Festival GEMS, held at Miami Dade College’s Wolfson Campus, Hawke was presented with the Virtuoso Award. The honor, given to recognize his outstanding contributions over a three-decade career in film, was presented during a conversation with Variety's Ramin Setoodeh.

“You just want another chance to keep playing. I’m most interested in what I’m going to do tomorrow,” Hawke shared, reflecting on his continuous passion for acting beyond the accolades.
Hawke’s first role was as Ben Crandall in Explorers. At 14, he felt like a failure due to the film's reception and doubted compliments on his later performance in Dead Poets Society. However, with time, he has developed a more uplifting view of his career.
