What began as a foggy Friday morning in Calgary transformed into a snowy day, although the snow is not expected to last. Snowfall started downtown around 8:30 a.m., moving southward from the north.
The day began with dense fog, prompting an advisory from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) due to poor visibility. The advisory also mentioned the possibility of rain, snow, and freezing rain.
“Precipitation was in the forecast for the morning hours, but our temperature stayed just cool enough to keep most of that mix as snow. Once it’s gone, it’s pretty much gone, and as we enter the 9 o’clock hour, we can expect most of that to fully back away,”
explained 660 NewsRadio meteorologist Kevin Stanfield. He also noted that the high temperature today will reach 3°C, meaning any new snow accumulation will likely melt.
