Environment Canada has released a fog advisory for Rocky View County, covering the areas near Airdrie and Crossfield. Early Friday, visibility is near zero due to dense fog and is expected to last until late morning.
There is a possibility of freezing rain during the morning travel hours, prompting warnings for motorists about potentially hazardous conditions.
As of 5 a.m., visibility was poor along Highway 2 between Calgary city limits and north of Highway 2A junction, and on Highway 2A between Highway 72 and Township Road 292. The roads, however, were otherwise bare and dry.
Environment Canada expects the fog to clear by late morning with snow periods ending near noon, followed by a 40% chance of afternoon flurries. Temperatures will drop to zero degrees Celsius, with a wind chill near –7 in the morning.
"Motorists are warned that travel may be hazardous in some locations."
Summary: A fog advisory with freezing rain risk is in effect for Airdrie–Crossfield, urging drivers to exercise caution during early morning travel due to low visibility and slippery roads.
