A Calgary man faced charges following a Cochrane RCMP probe into a suspected overdose death earlier this month in the Mînî Thnî area of the Stoney Nakoda Nations.
Randall Arsenault, 58, was charged with trafficking a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Arsenault was apprehended in Calgary on October 29 after a joint investigation by Cochrane RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) and the Calgary Police Service’s Gang Suppression Team.
The investigation started in early October when Cochrane RCMP responded to a suspected overdose death in Mînî Thnî. The CRU opened an inquiry to trace the drugs' origin, which led to Arsenault in Calgary.
