Netflix released the initial five minutes of the final season of Stranger Things, taking viewers back to the moment of Will Byers’ disappearance in 1983, with Vecna now involved. This preview was revealed following the red carpet premiere.
The season does not begin where many fans expected. Instead, it opens deep inside the Upside Down at the Hawkins Library, a key location from earlier seasons. This spot is where Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) was found in Season 1 by his mother Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Police Chief Jim Hopper (David Harbour).
Though the new episodes mostly take place 18 months after Stranger Things 4, creators Matt and Ross Duffer start the season by revisiting November 12, 1983—six days after Will originally vanished.
The episode begins with a de-aged Noah Schnapp portraying 12-year-old Will. Inside the Upside Down version of Castle Byers, he appears tired, confused, and trembling as he quietly sings The Clash’s “Should I Stay Or Should I Go” to himself.
