Mild and breezy conditions will persist through Friday before a weekend storm brings cooler air. FOX 32’s meteorologist Mike Caplan shared his outlook for the coming days.
November remains unusually mild across Chicago this week. Today will feature a mix of clouds and sunshine, with highs in the lower 60s. Winds will be calmer than on Wednesday but begin strengthening tonight and into Friday.
Overnight lows will stay in the 50s, which is typical for daytime highs during early November. Friday should mark the third consecutive day with temperatures above 60 degrees, though gusts may reach up to 30 mph.
By Thursday, a new storm system will approach the area. The day is expected to remain dry with highs in the mid-to-upper 50s. Showers—and possibly a few rumbles of thunder—will move across the region from Thursday night through early Friday morning.
Once the rain passes, Friday afternoon will turn breezy again, with temperatures returning to the low 60s.
The next round of weather arrives Saturday afternoon with scattered showers and highs around the lower 50s. A quick drop in temperature is expected Sunday as much colder air sweeps through.
Precipitation should taper off early Sunday, clearing the area ahead of the Chicago Bears game at Soldier Field.
“There is much ballyhoo already about potential snow arriving Sunday or Monday and here’s what I will say about that: The US model has scaled back its ridiculous snowfall prediction from yesterday.”
Chicago will stay mild through Friday before weekend storms bring rain, cooler temperatures, and a reduced—but still possible—chance of snow by early next week.
Author’s note: Mild November warmth ends as weekend storms usher in a colder pattern with reduced snowfall risks early next week.
