Children had no trouble finding candy this Halloween on St. John. Trick-or-treaters enjoyed plenty of treats at Mongoose Junction and the Trunk-or-Treat event held in the gravel lot at Cruz Bay.
Parents carefully guided their little ones down the main staircase at Mongoose Junction, where they met Raven Phillips of Bajo El Sol. Phillips handed out candy to children, including a young fan of Curious George named Finn, accompanied by his mother, Willow Melamet.
Guests arriving before 5 p.m. received free books from the Little Free Library. Jeannie Bishop was distributing books while Raven Phillips observed. A young fisherman showed interest in the book table, and Janet Cook-Rutnik, who assisted with book distribution, dressed up inspired by one of her favorite Eric Carle books.
Photographer Yelena Rogers posed for a photo with her dog as they exited Mongoose Junction.
As daylight diminished, most trick-or-treaters moved on to the gravel lot for the Trunk-or-Treat event. Adults creatively decorated their car trunks with spooky scenes to entertain visitors. One notable display was created by Jennifer Costanzo and Tessa Chilson from Moms Who Trunk.
"Those who got to Mongoose before 5 p.m. received a gift of free books from the Little Free Library."
