A Delta Air Lines passenger reported a distressing experience during a flight from Los Angeles to Florida. The journey, initially smooth with no layovers, took a turn when the passenger discovered that the person seated next to them had soiled himself.
The older man beside the passenger reportedly had serious mobility issues and was travelling alone. Despite flight attendants regularly checking on him, they did not notice the issue in time.
“Every breath was a gamble,” the passenger wrote on Reddit.
When the plane landed, the man stood up against instructions, revealing "literal poop smears on the seat," leaving the passenger to endure the unpleasant odor for the entire five-and-a-half-hour flight.
“There were literal poop smears on the seat. I had spent an entire cross-country flight marinating in that odor.”
This unsettling experience highlights challenges faced when assisting passengers with mobility issues on long flights and the importance of attentive in-flight care.
Author’s note: This incident underscores how vulnerable passengers and crew can be in managing unexpected health-related situations onboard.
