MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced on Monday that it is investigating a police officer who posted viral videos of a so-called “Bring Me Challenge.” In these videos, the officer asked viewers to bring drug users or pushers and unlicensed firearms in exchange for cash rewards.
On October 31, the vlogger police officer uploaded a video inviting viewers to join a party game where they could earn P2,000 for bringing a drug user and P5,000 for a drug pusher.
“This is not in our police operational procedures,” said acting PNP chief Lt. Bernard Yang during a press briefing at Camp Crame.
The challenge prompted the PNP’s Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) and Directorate for Investigation and Detective Management (DIDM) to initiate an official investigation into the officer’s conduct.
“The ACG and the DIDM are now conducting an appropriate investigation for the act that he committed,” added Lt. Bernard Yang.
The police officer has been identified, and his immediate supervisor has instructed him to remove the videos from social media.
PNP public information chief Brig. Randulf Tuaño declined to disclose the officer’s name but confirmed that he is assigned to the Talisay City Police Station under the Cebu Police Provincial Office.
“We have also called the attention of his immediate superior, who requested him to take down the videos,” Brig. Tuaño said.
The PNP also announced that it will investigate and possibly charge a Halloween partygoer who wore a police costume.
