Andy and Barbara Muschietti’s series IT: Welcome to Derry may be a prequel rooted in familiar territory, but it has quickly become one of the more successful adaptations of Stephen King’s universe. Two episodes have already been released, receiving generally positive reviews.
The third episode is scheduled to premiere on November 9, returning to its usual release cycle after a special Halloween delay. A recently released trailer not only teases new horrors but also unveils a subtle reference to another story from King’s shared universe.
IT: Welcome to Derry continues to build connections across King’s works. Viewers have spotted several nods, including appearances of a Shawshank State Prison bus and a reference to Dick Hallorann, the cook from The Shining.
“One of these references was directly mentioned in the trailer for the third episode.”
The first two episodes follow the disturbing case of three children murdered by a mutated infant inside a theater. The theater’s owner, Hank Grogan, is wrongly accused of the crimes, setting up the tension that drives the coming episode.
The third episode of IT: Welcome to Derry deepens its ties to the Stephen King multiverse, blending chilling mystery with familiar lore and moral tragedy.
