Girl group KATSEYE, whose global profile soared this year, received Grammy nominations in the coveted Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance categories.
“We grew up watching and dreaming about moments like this, and seeing it become real feels surreal.”
“We’re so thankful to the Recording Academy for this recognition and to all the incredible artists nominated alongside us. We can’t believe this; it’s so inspiring to be in such amazing company. Most of all, thank you to our fans, our Eyekons, for supporting us every step of the way.”
KATSEYE is competing against Olivia Dean, The Marías, Addison Rae, Sombr, Leon Thomas, Alex Warren, and Lola Young for the Best New Artist award. Chappell Roan, last year’s winner, introduced the category during the Grammy nominations announcement on Friday morning.
It has been a year of significant growth for KATSEYE. The group first gained attention from the Netflix documentary Popstar Academy, which showcased their journey from aspiring pop performers to international stars.
KATSEYE was formed through the YouTube-based competition series Dream Academy, designed to create the first global girl group as a collaborative project between K-pop powerhouse Hybe and Geffen Records.
KATSEYE’s Grammy nominations celebrate their rapid rise from hopefuls in a global music project to recognized artists among the world’s best, inspiring fans and peers alike.
