Intel is reportedly developing a new flagship desktop CPU under the Bartlett Lake-S codename, featuring 12 Performance Cores (P-Cores) and an impressive boost clock reaching up to 6GHz.
Intel's Bartlett Lake-S CPU seems to abandon the typical hybrid architecture seen in recent models, which combined P-Cores with E-Cores. Instead, it focuses solely on high-performance P-Cores, increasing their number beyond the usual maximum of eight found even in high-end chips like the Intel Core i9-14900KS.
Removing the 16 E-Cores, which help with background tasks, allows Intel to add four extra P-Cores. This redesign might enhance gaming performance by prioritizing powerful cores dedicated to high-demand processes.
According to Intel tech leaker @jaykihn0 on X: "The flagship Bartlett Lake-S model will have 12 P-Cores and a top 6GHz boost clock."
Despite the gaming potential, Intel’s own documentation suggests Bartlett Lake-S targets edge computing applications rather than gaming-specific use cases.
The Bartlett Lake-S CPU aims to push single-thread performance with more P-Cores and higher clock speeds, signaling Intel’s focus on specialized markets like edge computing while potentially benefiting gaming enthusiasts.
