At a screening of her new film Eternity on November 5, Elizabeth Olsen shared with PEOPLE the daily habit that keeps her centered. The 36-year-old actress and producer revealed she has been journaling every morning for the past three years.
"You slow down your thoughts, I think, when you start writing by hand."
Olsen describes her journaling practice as a way to “slow everything down.” Sometimes she writes about the events of the previous day, other times about what she is reading, encompassing a wide range of personal reflections.
"Sometimes it's just what happened yesterday. Sometimes it's about what I'm reading. It’s kind of everything."
This routine not only provides clarity but also supports Olsen’s creative process. In fact, she credits journaling as “really helpful” for her work on projects from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to Eternity. She keeps three distinct journals, including a separate work journal specifically for character development.
Elizabeth Olsen’s consistent morning journaling habit helps her slow down, reflect, and enhance her creativity both in daily life and her acting career.
