Jalen Duren Scores 33 to Lead Pistons Over Mavericks in Mexico City

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Jalen Duren set a personal best with 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons pulled away in the final quarter to defeat the Dallas Mavericks 122-110 on Saturday night.

Cade Cunningham contributed 21 points and a career-high 18 assists. Duncan Robinson added 18 points, while Ausar Thompson scored 15, helping Detroit secure their second consecutive win.

“I just wanted to get the win, coach had a great game plan and my teammates found me and the rest is history,” said Duren.
“It is cool, super cool, the coaching staff put me in great position, and my teammates helped me, to do it out here was cool,” said Cunningham. “The win is important, we are continuing to grow and it is important to represent the Pistons organization, we wanted to make sure to handle our business.”

For Dallas, D’Angelo Russell came off the bench to score 31 points. Rookie Cooper Flagg, the first overall pick, had a season-high 16 points despite shooting 3-for-14.

The Mavericks held a 93-87 lead after three quarters but were outscored 35-17 in the fourth. Dallas was without forward Anthony Davis, who is expected to miss two games following a left leg injury suffered Wednesday against Indiana.
