The New Orleans Pelicans could not extend their winning streak on Saturday night despite a standout performance by Trey Murphy. After securing back-to-back victories earlier in the week, the Pelicans fell 126-119 to the San Antonio Spurs at Frost Bank Center.
San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama was a dominant presence, making it difficult for the Pelicans to contain him throughout the game.
“It was great and we needed it from him,” said Pelicans coach Willie Green. “He scored on every level tonight. He got to the free-throw line. He rebounded the ball well, something that we’ve been talking about.”
The Pelicans had just won two straight games Tuesday and Wednesday but were unable to claim a third consecutive victory against the Spurs.
Summary: Despite Trey Murphy's career-high scoring and solid rebounding, the Pelicans' efforts fell short as they lost 126-119 to the Spurs, highlighting challenges in containing Victor Wembanyama.
