Far-right activist Tommy Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, refused to give police his phone password to protect "journalistic material", Westminster Magistrates' Court heard.
Robinson, 42, was stopped by officers at the Channel Tunnel in Folkestone while driving a silver Bentley SUV to Benidorm, a Spanish tourist hotspot.
The court was told that Robinson claimed his phone held information about "vulnerable girls", which he did not want police to access.
