CJ McCollum continued to be a key contributor for Washington despite the team’s uneven start to the season. The veteran guard scored 25 points on Friday night, shooting 8-of-16 from the field, including 6-of-13 from beyond the arc, and added three assists, one steal, and two rebounds.
While McCollum showed strong leadership on offense, the Wizards fell to the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 148-114 defeat. His effort stood out in what has been a period marked by inconsistency, as he has finished under 20 points in four of the last five games.
“McCollum has struggled with consistency on the offensive end of the floor of late,” noted Correspondent Chris Schommer. “The 34-year-old has been one of many frustrating options as part of an underwhelming Washington lineup to begin the season.”
Despite the challenges, his performance against Cleveland remains one of the brighter moments for Washington early this year.
McCollum delivered an efficient 25-point game, highlighting his offensive ability even as the Wizards continue to search for consistent form.
