Brian Mackney’s Legacy

Scott D’Amore’s Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling sent out the news that wrestler Brian Mackney has passed away. Alongside the announcement, a photo and detailed bio were shared.

MAPLE LEAF PRO is saddened to hear of the passing today of “Silent” Brian Mackney, a Maple Leaf Wrestling alumnus and legend in Toronto.

Mackney was more than just a journeyman; he won the hearts of Toronto fans in the 1970s and 1980s and gained international recognition. He competed in Japan with New Japan Pro Wrestling and All-Japan Pro Wrestling and worked various NWA territories, including Mid-Atlantic.

When WWF took over Toronto, Brian continued to work there for Vince McMahon for several years. Notably, Mackney achieved all of this while being deaf, proving his hearing impairment did not hold him back.

He rose above it all and accomplished what many do not.

Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling expressed their pride in having “Silent” Brian attend their event at the former Maple Leaf Gardens this past May and honored his lasting legacy in Maple Leaf Wrestling history.

We send our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of the Silent Warrior during this time.
