The M25 motorway experienced severe delays following a multi-vehicle collision, leading to closures and heavy congestion.
National Highways reports that three out of four lanes are now open, with delays reduced to around 20 minutes and about four miles of slow-moving traffic.
#M25 is CLOSED anti-clockwise between J25 (#WalthamCross) and J23 (#PottersBar) due to a collision. Delays of 60 mins, 4 miles of congestion. The injury is not as serious as initially feared. The M25 clockwise is NOW OPEN between J23 (#A1M) and J25.
National Highways also advised on social media that "delays in excess of an hour" were expected, with around three miles of congestion remaining.
An air ambulance was called to the scene, prompting further closures. The anticlockwise carriageway between J25 (#WalthamCross) and J24 (#PottersBar) remains closed due to the ongoing incident, along with the clockwise side between J23 (#A1M) and J25 to allow air ambulance access.
Motorists are urged to plan ahead if traveling in the affected areas this afternoon.
