Fatal Crash in Cocke County
A dump truck accident in Cocke County resulted in the death of the driver, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP).
The incident occurred on Rocky Top Road, where 58-year-old Dennis Sewell, of North Carolina, was operating an articulated dump truck loaded with road mix to construct a better roadway.
THP said the driver backed over the edge of the roadway, which caused it to overturn and roll halfway down the mountain.
The Cocke County Sheriff’s Office reported that the crash happened just before 9 a.m. and required a response from several agencies.
