Latino Leaders Condemn ICE Over Incidents in Chicago

Latino leaders have expressed dismay over recent immigration enforcement operations in Chicago, which resulted in a fatal shooting and several arrests.

An Immigration, Customs and Enforcement (ICE) officer fatally shot Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez, who tried to evade arrest by driving his car at officers and dragging one of them.

Kevin Herrera, Gimenez's attorney, believes the detention was retaliation for his involvement in a lawsuit against Chicago leaders, Home Depot, and an off-duty police officer.

The incidents are part of the "Operation Midway Blitz" campaign, which targets so-called sanctuary laws in the state.
