Defending Champions Face Pressure to Retain Titles
Juniors Ryunosuke Roesch and Chloe Lee, winners of the DODEA-Pacific Far East tennis singles titles last year, are preparing to defend their titles.
Roesch, a two-time Far East boys tennis champion from Yokota, and Lee, the defending Division I and overall girls champion from Humphreys, know they will be pressed to repeat their success.
“There’s always pressure,” Roesch said, adding that his coaches, Steven Cruz and Lezley Okamoto, tell him to try his best no matter the opponent. And know that there’s always somebody out there better.
Roesch focuses on his own performance, saying
“I try to focus on what I do and what I can do”to manage the pressure.
