The Suffolk News-Herald reports on the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) Out of the Darkness Walk.
Angela Agar first participated in the walk after her cousin's death. She and her sister walked in Virginia Beach for two years before finding the Suffolk event.
"agreeing to take the position has been one of her greatest yeses"
Now in her fourth year as planning committee co-chair, Agar oversees the Suffolk Out of the Darkness Walk, scheduled for October. Currently, 154 participants from 39 teams are registered, with a goal to raise $40,000. So far, just over $9,000 has been raised.
"This has been a financially tough year with all that's going on in the world. A lot of places that used grant money to sponsor things like this lost those."
Author's summary: Out of the Darkness Walk raises funds for suicide prevention.
