The "Feed the Hungry, Fill the Truck" food drive at Zumbro Lutheran Church collected meals and snacks for those in need without donors ever having to leave their cars.
As temperatures drop and needs rise, The Landing MN, a nonprofit supporting those experiencing homelessness, asked the community to come together to help feed Rochester’s hungry on Saturday, October 11.
“Winters coming and our shelves were getting a little low, so we came up with the thought of having a drive-thru food drive just so people could easily drop food off,”
said Lori Windhorst, volunteer at The Landing MN. The food drive follows the release of Olmsted County’s Community Health Needs Assessment, which identified food security as one of three main priorities for the county.
