Teachers union would like to see more support staff to ensure schools are safe - Radio Sweden

School Safety in Sweden

New, stricter rules on school safety came into effect this summer, but a Swedish Radio investigation found that unauthorized people can still enter and move around many Swedish schools.

However, schools that have hired "visitor hosts" have seen an improvement in safety. The Swedish Teachers' Union is advocating for more such hosts in schools.

"The backbone of the schools! are the teachers, but teachers are not supposed to be security guards. We need more support staff to ensure that people are safe,"

says Robin Smith, deputy chairman of the Swedish Teachers' Union.

The union's proposal aims to increase safety in schools by providing additional support staff.
