Former Employee Accuses Union County Sheriff of Retaliatory Termination and Sexual Comments

A former Union County Sheriff’s Office employee, Morgan Crider, who also serves as the county’s E-911 director, has accused Sheriff Billy Breeding of filing a false disciplinary complaint against her and firing her from her job after she spoke up about it.

Crider also alleges that the sheriff made sexual comments towards her. The accusations are part of a lawsuit filed on October 10, 2025, which outlines a complex timeline of events that unfolded in the fall of 2024.

According to the lawsuit, the issues began on September 20, 2024, when Breeding issued a notice of disciplinary action against Crider. A copy of the notice was obtained by WVLT News.

Crider said the back-and-forth between her and the county began when Breeding, who also acted as the E-911 director, issued a notice of disciplinary action against her.
