The provincial government is planning to introduce a new design for licence plates, with a theme of "Strong and Free" starting in 2026.
According to the government, this theme reflects "Alberta's bold identity, economic strength and deep-rooted provincial pride" and is based on the province's Latin motto.
The motto's inclusion on the licence plates will also serve as a nod to Canada's national anthem and Alberta's position as a strong and sovereign province within a united Canada.
Residents can vote online for their preferred design among eight unique options that incorporate the province's landscape and history until November 15.
