WHO Adopts AI to Combat Disease Outbreaks
The World Health Organisation (WHO) is modernising its surveillance systems by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) to strengthen global health security.
In collaboration with partners, WHO has launched version 2.0 of the Epidemic Intelligence from Open Sources (EIOS) system, used for early detection of public health threats.
- Over 110 member states and 30 organisations use EIOS globally.
- The update incorporates new data sources and improved functionalities, including AI.
EIOS is the world’s leading initiative for open-source intelligence for public health decision-making.
