Unions Sue to Stop AI Surveillance Powering Trump’s “Catch and Revoke” Deportation Scheme

Three major labor unions sued the federal government to stop a social media surveillance program designed to revoke visas and green cards of immigrants with "hostile attitudes" about the government.

The AI-powered program has suppressed free speech, including graduate students targeted for expressing pro-Palestine views, the lawsuit notes.

The First Amendment applies to everyone who lives in the U.S.

This is the first lawsuit to challenge the surveillance program itself, according to Lisa Femia, a lawyer with the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

The lawsuit was filed on the unions' behalf by three civil liberties groups.

Author's summary: Unions sue government over AI surveillance program.
