Romania to Fuel Argentine Reactors
Romania's Feldioara Uranium Plant has won an international tender to supply uranium dioxide fuel to Argentina's nuclear power plants for a year.
The plant, serving the nuclear industry since 1956, will supply UO2 fuel to Argentina's nuclear plants for one year.
Romania's Feldioara Uranium Concentrate Processing Plant (FPCU), a subsidiary of nuclear utility SN Nuclearelectrica (SNN), has begun processing uranium oxide (U3O8) for the production of UO2 to supply Argentina's NPPs.
Argentina's power reactors, like those in Romania, are pressurised heavy water reactors (PHWRs) which do not require enriched uranium to operate.
