Sweet Justice: Officer Sentenced in CDL Scheme Involving Candy

A former Massachusetts Police sergeant, Gary Cederquist, has been sentenced to six years in prison for his role in a CDL fraud scheme. The scheme involved accepting bribes, including Twizzlers, Swedish Fish candy, and Fiji water, in exchange for providing CDLs to unqualified applicants.

Cederquist was charged in a 74-count indictment along with five others. The Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts alleged that he gave passing scores to applicants who actually failed the CDL skills test or only took a partial test.

In addition to the prison sentence, Cederquist was given two years of supervised release and ordered to pay more than $50,000 in fines and restitution. He was convicted by a jury in May.

Some Twizzlers and bottled water will do the trick.
