No. 7 Clay-Battelle rushed for 315 yards, securing a 40-18 victory against Class AA River View on Friday.
The game began with a 30-yard touchdown pass from Corey Coen to Cody Clovis, followed by an onside kick recovery and a subsequent rushing onslaught that led to five more touchdowns on the ground.
“We ended up scoring on three of our first four possessions,”
C-B head coach Aaron LaPoe said, praising his team's offensive line for their performance against River View's large front line and frequent blitzes.
“Our line kept picking it up and we were getting eight or nine yards per rush.”
LaPoe noted that this win was likely Clay-Battelle's first over a Class AA school since 2006, calling it a
“special win for us”.
Author's note: Clay-Battelle wins big.
