BAA Wrap: St. Mary's beats OSDSS to finish in first place

A recap of this past week's high school sports action in Grey-Bruce and the Bluewater Athletic Association.

To be the best, you have to beat the best, and Owen Sound District came close Thursday afternoon. The Wolves nearly knocked off the 10-time defending champion St. Mary’s Mustangs in a battle for first place in the Bluewater Athletic Association.

The two clubs tied earlier in the season, and Owen Sound District took a 19-15 lead into halftime. But, a pair of late touchdowns scored by Mustangs running back Colton Lunman proved to be the difference in the contest as St. Mary’s came from behind to win, 28-25.

St. Mary’s finished the regular season undefeated with a record of 3-0-1. They’ll likely meet the Kincardine Knights in a semifinal contest next Thursday at Victoria Park. Owen Sound District finished with a 2-1-1 record and will likely host Saugeen District in the other semifinal contest on Wednesday.

The Bluewater Athletic Association championship will be played on Friday, Oct.
