Tens of thousands of people were forced to take shelter Saturday evening as a storm hit Salt Lake City, resulting in the cancellation of the RedWest music festival several hours early.

The festival, held at the Utah State Fairpark, was in its second of three days, with Post Malone scheduled to headline Saturday night, following Kacey Musgraves on Friday and preceding Noah Kahan on Sunday.

Attendees were notified via the festival's mobile app to pause the shows shortly before 5:15 p.m., and organizers later announced on social media that everyone needed to gather their belongings, leave the venue, and take shelter.

“From the bathrooms, to the tents... now we’re in this random building," said Alan Scott from Idaho. "Luckily these nice people let us in.
