FIFA ASEAN Cup Announced for Southeast Asia
The tournament was announced during the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur. FIFA and ASEAN have announced the launch of a new FIFA ASEAN Cup, as part of plans to boost football development across the region.
A renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn.
- National teams from all ASEAN member states will feature in the tournament.
- The format is inspired by the Arab Cup, which took place in 2021 under FIFA's umbrella.
The agreement between FIFA and ASEAN will help make a difference in the region through football, said FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
