A plane crash in Kenya's coastal region of Kwale has resulted in the deaths of 11 people, mostly foreign tourists.
The plane, operated by Mombasa Air Safari, was en route to Maasai Mara National Reserve when it crashed in a hilly and forested area, approximately 40 kilometers from Diani airstrip.
According to Kwale County Commissioner Stephen Orinde, the crash occurred at 05:30 a.m. local time, and investigating agencies are looking into the cause of the crash.
The airline reported that the pilot failed to communicate upon departure, and the airport control tower attempted to reach him for 30 minutes before locating the plane.
No statement on the cause of the crash has been released yet.
