Bulgaria's Energy Minister, Zhecho Stankov, assured that fuel supplies are guaranteed despite sanctions on Lukoil.
According to Stankov, the country has sufficient fuel quantities to cover consumption for several months. This statement was made on October 28, in response to the implications of US sanctions on Lukoil.
The US Treasury Department designated Russia's two largest oil companies, Rosneft and Lukoil, as targets of the sanctions.
Bulgaria's sole refinery, located in the Black Sea city of Bourgas, is owned by Lukoil. However, Stankov emphasized that the refinery's assets have been designated as critical to the country's energy and national security by a Cabinet decree.
