Kid-friendly Halloween Carnival Raises Money for Shop With a Cop

A Halloween carnival, the 2025 Heroes Haunted Carnival, was held at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds Event Complex, raising money for Shop With a Cop.

Attendees enjoyed various activities, including carnival games, pumpkin painting, movies, a scavenger hunt, and trick-or-treat booths during the five-hour fundraiser.

“Some of them come in not quite sure,” said Terri Chandler, with Jefferson County Community Corrections. “But by the time they leave, they’re excited, they’re talking. We’ve kind of befriended them and let them know that we’re there for them.”

Volunteers, including local law enforcement and community partners, manned the spooky booths, finding joy in seeing the excited children in costumes.

“I really love giving my time back to the community,” said Madras Police officer Karen Correa.

The event contributed to law enforcement's desire to invest in the community and be part of the carnival.
