The Sixers were without Jared McCain and Paul George, but Trendon Watford made his debut after recovering from a hamstring injury. Joel Embiid returned to the lineup after sitting out the previous game.
Tyrese Maxey had a strong start, scoring 12 points in the first quarter, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc. However, the Wizards' hot shooting and the Sixers' poor defense put them in a 40-32 hole after the first quarter.
Alex Sarr led the Wizards with 13 points in the first quarter.
