A large group was seen fleeing from police and troops, with multiple police cars blocking off streets on M Street and 1st Street. Residents were asked to avoid the area, with specific closures on M Street from 1st to 3rd Street, SE, and New Jersey Avenue closed south of L Street, SE.
By around 11 p.m., the group had cleared, and police maintained a presence in the area with additional officers and road closures in place.
